Not Another Bunch Of Flowers is transforming the concept of traditional get well gifts. Flowers and fruit have always tended to be the ‘go to’ options when someone is poorly but the result is often an overwhelming number of flowers, and many people don’t know that flowers and fruit are now banned in many hospitals and may never reach the patient. Not Another Bunch Of Flowers was founded at the end of 2013 by me, Anikka Burton, after I was diagnosed with cancer. My wonderful friends and family sent their well-wishes along with many bunches of flowers and gifts I was unfortunately unable to use during my treatment due to the ingredients. I underwent over a year of treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and 5 surgical procedures. My friends later admitted that they had desperately wanted to send something to show they cared, but hadn’t known what. This inspired me to handpick a selection of gifts that are a more thoughtful, practical and longer-lasting alternative to flowers and are welcome in hospitals. In October 2013 I launched Not Another Bunch Of Flowers – a website selling gift packages with worldwide delivery. Flowers are always gratefully received and are bright and cheerful, but this site offers practical alternatives along with helpful guidance so you can find the perfect present to show you care. Gifts include hospital hampers, speciality chemotherapy care packages and more general get well gifts. All are lovingly wrapped with a handwritten message.
My Cancer StoryAnikka Burton - Owner
I was diagnosed with stage IIIC breast cancer in 2011 at the age of 33 and had the full works of chemotherapy, targeted therapy, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy and 5 operations to date. When I was first diagnosed, my wonderful and caring friends, family and colleagues sent me so many bunches of flowers that I ran out of vases, jugs, pint glasses... until I was putting them in saucepans and anything else that would hold water! Knowing that so many people were rooting for me was incredible - it gave me a much-needed boost on the days I was struggling - but, while flowers are bright and beautiful amongst the gloom of illness, there are only so many a girl needs! They later said they just hadn't known what else to get me. This inspired me to set up a site selling a range of products that are both useful and safe to use during treatment that can be sent as a gift - or used to treat yourself! Products include cotton nightwear, contemporary headwear, sweets for nausea, natural and organic toiletries formulated specifically for those undergoing treatment for cancer and empathy cards that say the words you are struggling to find.
Chemo Care Package - including Queasy Drops and a pretty Cotton Beanie in a matching washbag.
Trust Organic Skincare For Sensitive Times - formulated specifically for those going through treatment.
Empathy Cards By Emily McDowell - cards for serious illness designed by a cancer survivor.
Cotton Nightwear - all button or tie-front nightwear, perfect for post-surgery and limited movement.https://www.notanotherbunchofflowers.com/ < To learn more and purchase from this vendor click the link to the left.
